Birthday!

We went to Red Robin to get my free birthday burger and Evie found out that she loves ketchup and she loves to dip things in this messy red stuff! She loves to dip her food in things! The other morning I found her dipping her pancakes in her cottage cheese, yum?!

On my birthday me, Owen, my sister and our kids drove down to Jerome to visit my grandparents. My grandpa had knee replacement surgery and was in rehab for a while. The picture above was the same on the drive home :)

We went to Johnny Carino's in Twin Falls and had a nice birthday lunch!

We went over to the Twin Falls Temple and walked around. It is beautiful! Owen and I were fortunate enough to go to the open house a few years back, it really is a beautiful temple!

Here we are at the hospital with my grandpa! Glad to report he is at home now and doing as well as can be expected! It was such a lovely afternoon and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday! I feel so blessed to have such wonderful grandparents and wish I could see them more often!

Some beach..........somewhere..............

You were thinking this was why I haven't blogged in a while, right? WRONG! This post is not about us visiting some exotic beach! It's even BETTER! My siblings and I were busy planning a surprise 60th birthday party for my parents! And we pulled it off :) We started planning it back in March or April and I was put in charge, with my sisters, to take care of decorations! It was F-U-N! We were at the church all afternoon decorating and setting everything up. I was in charge of getting them to the church. Earlier in the week my sister in-law emailed everyone in the family that we were going to get together at the Broadway church to play basketball and celebrate hers and Reagan's birthday. They bought it! I stopped by their house at 5:45 pm and got them there just after 6:15 pm. My mom refused to go into the gym because she thought we were walking in on some body's event. It took persuasion to finally get her through the door! They were SHOCKED! So much fun :) The theme was beach party. Here are some pictures, and yes they are out of order! Enjoy!
My mom and dad got this walker and a cane as a joke present but the kids really enjoyed playing on it!
Birthday girl!

Birthday boy!
All of the grand kids except one, she wasn't interested in taking pictures at the time!
Everybody minus one son in-law! Yes, it is growing harder to get everybody in one place at one time to take one picture!
Miss Evie insisted on wearing this coconut bra! - So silly :)

Mom and Dad during the game show. We also had a 1950's trivia, which was very fun! Can you believe my mom had the original receipt of her hospital bill from when she was born and it cost $44.00 for everything? (My sister Angie did great on the trivia game)

Good turn out!
Mom and Dad!

Mom's family!

The ice cream sundae bar

Not a very good pic. but this was the stage where the DJ was. He played some fun 60's music and the banner says Happy 60th Birthday!

We gathered pictures of my mom and dad growing up and put them on a fishers net

My Mom's mom and my mom's brother and sister and sister in-law drove all the way down from Jerome to be there!

The game show of their life - very fun!

Setting up for the party! Allie, my niece helping out with the babies and the decorations - what a gem! Her sister Becca was also very helpful!

We decorated with beach towels, beach umbrellas, swim suites and beach balls!

Fun times and friends!

A couple of weekends ago my old boss from Chesbro Music in Rexburg came down to Boise for a coin show. He wanted to go out to dinner like old time, and it was fun! His niece, Gaylene met up with us as well! Texas Roadhouse fun! As you can see, Evie had had enough by this point! Going out to dinner is never the same after you have kids ;)

This is what Evie looked like after she woke up from the following position. I couldn't help it, she looked so funny!

Evie enjoys being outdoors, which I think will be so fun when it starts warming up! Here she is sitting at the backdoor, watching Owen grill.

She discovered fun when she found her empty diaper box! We sure love her crazy, cute personality :)

Quilt

I love going to Craft Warehouse and looking at all of the paper, frames, fun ideas, etc..you get the idea! Well, I ALWAYS end up looking at the fabric and drooling over them. However, I am ALWAYS forced back into the reality that I am not a crafty person. I repeat I. AM. NOT. a crafty person. There was this super cute bird fabric that I had spotted and I couldn't get it out of my head. I have always loved the look of the rag quilt and everyone said it was the easiest type of quilt to make. So with the help of my wonderful sister, Charity and her sewing machine and quilting skills I made my idea blossom!

I sewed most of the quilt myself! It wasn't too hard because all I had to do was sew a straight line. It worked out pretty well ;)
This picture was actually supposed to be at the top, but I put it in the wrong order, again! Anyway, this was the pattern we came up with after cutting out all of the squares.

The finished product! The back is pink flannel, which matches the pink on the front :)

I am no Martha Stewart, but I thought it turned out pretty good! What do ya think?!

Chuck E Cheese's 3rd and final birthday celebration!

The last birthday celebration we had for Evie's first birthday was with Owen's side of the family that live close. We decided to meet at Chuck E Cheese. All of the kids weren't too sure at first, but they eventually decided that it was pretty fun! Evie sure is lucky to have so much love from both sides of the family! Happy Birthday Miss Evie, until next year ;)

This was Evie's first "ride" by the look on her face you can tell she isn't totally convinced! Her cousin Chase was loving it! It was a big monster truck that went up and down and all around!

Her expression reads " why am I sitting next to this huge, overgrown mouse?"

The Johnston clan!
Evie's other two cousins Trey and Keegan. They had finally warmed up to all of the fun rides!

First two birthday celebrations!

Here are pictures from Evie's multiple birthday celebrations! The pics aren't really in order, but it takes so long to upload them, that I didn't have the desire to go back and do it in order! Enjoy!

Evie and Felicity had a joint birthday party for my side of the family on the 21st of March. The girls had a lot of fun and got a lot of fun presents :)
Enjoying cake!

This is the quilt I made for her birthday! I'm going to do a separate blog entry on that.

Opening presents

Blowing out the candle! I made both her and Felicity these polk a dot cakes! I thought they turned out pretty cute!

I also made these little party hats for them. They didn't care for them. I think they looked like little gnomes!

This was on Evie's actual birthday! My mom and dad stopped by our house to give Evie this balloon. She was doing just fine and then my parents showed up and she wouldn't stop screaming. Later I find out that she is soooo scared of the balloon :( It was kind of funny! She never really warmed up to it. It's odd because she has seen balloons before and would always smile at them.

Birthday morning! I told you, these pictures are in no particular order!
This was the dinner we made on her birthday. Of course she couldn't eat any of the kabobs, but she could have the mashed potatoes and she LOVED them!
